      The productions and programming experienced by the children is very high quality and that is a great reward to be a part of. Fun environment to connect with musicians in LA and extremely self-motivated youth. Attracts an intellectual and determined staff. In theory, there are opportunities to move up in the org. The students will always have a place in your heart.

      The organization is beholden to funders and donors that are out of touch with the needs of the children. Staff autonomy and role specification is frequently disrespected. Lack of transparency leads negative gossip culture. Personal conflicts amongst upper management and the board seemed to be the root of many issues.

      Executive leadership has been a positive for me. From my onboarding, to integration to developing real-time working synergies, it has been a positive experience. The executive director has been empathetic and that is always a plus! Another positive has been the support I've received from colleagues. Everyone has been gracious in their willingness to provide insight or a helping hand when needed. It seems to me fostering a positive culture is a significant priority at Harmony Project, whereas that is not always the case in other organizations. Lastly, another positive is the ability to work with children who want to learn. To be able to help empower children and create spaces for them to be creative has been a wonderful/rewarding experience.

      There aren't any cons that stand out to me at this particular moment. I do recognize the nonprofit sector can get hectic at times, but leadership has made a concerted effort to promote a healthy work environment.
