The work is very satisfying and you get to help people every day to get the things they need. Good work-life balance, you don't have to take work home other than reading. Many of the people in administration are dedicated, friendly, helpful, and good at their jobs. There is a fair amount of variety in work and you can play to your strengths.

Some people in administration are awful with bad attitudes and no respect for their staff. A bad apple can poison the whole bunch. Pay is not great for having a Bachelor's or Master's degree. Raises are a measly 3%, even when you receive an advanced degree directly related to your job. Not much room for advancement other than moving into management, and a lot of people just don't want to do that. As with any public service job, sometimes customers are problematic.
