I joined Indigo because it was the opportunity to be a part of an organization that was new, innovative, and growing. I wanted to develop professional and contribute to an organization as it grew from, if not its infancy, its adolescent stages of development. Unfortunately, I was laid off in February. The company cited their corporate priorities as the reason, this had nothing to do with the economic downturn brought on by Covid 19. Without being too negative, this seemed to have been a reaction to poor planning. They hired too quickly, expanded too many services, to the point that the company didn't quite understand what offering it even wanted to make. There was a swift pivot to reduce headcount, and my position was eliminated in an arbitrary fashion. This was the second wave of layoffs after surviving the first. The worst thing about all this was watching an environment that was so energetic, so positive, so exciting, completely lose any sense of enthusiasm for the work at hand. For all the effect this had on me, it was worse on those that remain.
