Micro managers in sales/commercial leadership team stunting company improvement operationally. employ experienced people but do not like to listen to them. Care about managing upwards only and their image more so than doing the right thing. Senior people in sales protect poor performers as they are friends. Very cliquey. A small number of people control or try control everything and the narrative. HR policies are basic and not like what you'd expect for a soft toy company. Lack of family friendly policies like flexible working for parents, buying extra holiday and have basic maternity pay. Think they are luxury but do not have that value in what they look after their staff. Do not seen bothered about staff retention. Very little involvement from HR which gives managers a lot of control.
