The main issue with any family-owned business is when the family is not in harmony, it shows. And this family is very dysfuntional. Family members are hired in various leadership roles that they clearly are not capable of handling. The owners are older people that think they have a pulse on the industry, but they do not and they refuse to allow the younger set to help bring them into the present and future because they preceive that as giving up control. A lot of business comes from old connections, rather than new ones, because the company is run in a very out-dated fashion regarding policies, technology, and procedures. The salaries are low compared to other agencies in the industry and benefits consist of just the basics. When I was there, we went multiple years without even a cost-of-living salary increase. You are expected to work overtime without compensation and comp time is hoarded like it's somehow costing the President her personal money. It sems like there is a revolving door at this company since so many people quit. The steady line walking out is flabbergasting.
