Leadership is very risk-averse, which often feels bureaucratic when simple solutions aren’t pursued. - MCE's Marin roots keep the agency from serving its other three counties in a way that would serve them best - Very hierarchical management structure, but claims to be egalitarian. Leadership often refers to the agency as a "family" - I observed nepotism through the prioritization of current coworkers' family and friends over fully merit-based evaluations for hiring - The remote work culture leaves for little support or connection. There were double standards for in-office expectations. MCE only seem to keep the remote policy because C-Suite and Leadership live far away from the offices
