Vantaggi
The 5PM finish is great, and you're trusted with some interesting technology. It's a great place to get up to speed with digital marketing tools, but it's not somewhere that you can spend an entire career. Their PR team are probably one of the best in the industry.
Svantaggi
A digital marketing company wins a place in the 'Top 10 Companies to Work For?' It's almost like they knew exactly how to market themselves into the list... Everything has processes - processes for the sake of processes to manage processes that optimise processes. This is necessary for a large firm but with MVF they're always introduced and very rarely refined, or examined. Top heavy management. Last time I was at MVF it was structured as follows: > C-Suite > Director > Head of Department > Senior Manager > Manager > Senior Executive > Executive MVF has tried to respond to its chronic turnover (especially for junior roles) by creating middle-management for the purposes of promotion. Senior management has been there for a while and isn't going anywhere - at least not until their options vest. MVF focuses on financial growth at all costs (which is a good way to run a company), but that can result in a lot of pressure on individuals that don't get support from management. Managers are promoted as an incentive, not because they have leadership experience. MVF is fragmented, with many teams struggling to work together to optimise business decisions. MVF was a great place to work, but it's sold out and is essentially a grad farm serving clickbait on Facebook and native ads. For most digital marketing verticals, the work is repetitive and boring - agile is something managers have read about in business books and little more. MVF makes its fortune by selling on people's details and running spammy ads that print them money. It's not a rewarding place to work, the salary is lower than the industry average and there's a very noticeable 'clique' with early employees.
