Travel is excessive, even by industry standards. New engineers are put into the field with very little training, essentially thrown to the wolves. Management nitpicks meaningless details and micromanages jobs while ignoring what is really necessary to be successful in the field. Job becomes soul sucking extremely quickly and employee turnover is extreme as a result. This leads to even more pressure being placed on those who stay. HR can be petty and vindictive to an extreme, and are barely functional in their roles. The culture is extremely toxic and the remote nature of field service work can be considered a benefit as a result. Speaking of which, benefits are mediocre at best for such a large corporation. There is no work life balance and the pay doesn’t quite make up for that.
