Leadership in certain regions is deeply problematic. The regional manager in my territory fosters a culture of intimidation, condescension, and fear. Communication is often demeaning, and legitimate questions are met with defensiveness or personal offense rather than clarity or solutions. Instead of empowering teams, leadership tears them down and strips away confidence. Micromanagement has become constant. There is little to no trust in employees to do their jobs, despite clear expectations and proven performance. The environment feels controlling rather than collaborative, and it creates unnecessary stress across teams. Advancement opportunities are extremely limited. The executive team consistently brings in their own external hires for higher-level roles rather than promoting from within. Employees who have shown loyalty and delivered results are overlooked, while leadership connections appear to carry more weight than performance. If you are considering working here, be very mindful of what region you are entering. Leadership can make or break your experience, and in some territories, it will break it.

In my 4 years of employment the overall morale and trajectory of the company seemed to decline rapidly. OVME’s upper management has quick turnover and is ruled by former smile direct staff that are running another business into the ground. Management (specifically regional managers) has no medical aesthetic background so their expectations and numbers they push aren’t realistic and are quite icky knowing they are trying to constantly upsell a medical treatment. Any pushback to their constant stream of demands leaves you skating on thin ice and never gets resolved. Rather than getting exposure to the industry they watch studio teams on the camera trying to find reasons to warn or fire providers without full books or high ATVs. Any communication of issues to the studio managers falls upon deaf ears as they actually have no say or true management of anything and are basically glorified studio team babysitters. They once highly prioritized training and education, now hardly touch on it or if they do it’s incredibly restricted on what you can and cannot train on and with. They prioritize training on a persuasive consultation rather than skill and the quality of injectors hired over the years is reflective of this as well. Sometimes quarterly town hall meetings are had, especially after impromptu mass layoffs, to try to hush the concerns of the team but they lead to more confusion as no questions or concerns are actually ever addressed. The one person who was a great corporate liaison, the former CPO, has left and i expect the company to continue on a downward spiral with the loss of him.
