Vantaggi
Upper management is nice enough, and people are friendly enough on the whole
Svantaggi
- very strict culture
-- limited time on clock in on either side, and x strikes and you have a problem, and this was for a white collar position
-- and it was a thing to make sure that you clocked in on the system (computerized) in a certain window even for lunch - and remember this isn't a factory
- this is a very risk adverse company and it shows in their employee policy - stricter rules
- tight with the time off allowances pre-notice /amount given - stingy you could say
- don't expect confidentiality / negotiable slack with HR
I once in a polite way asked about an exemption to a policy, explaining something that I thought could be a reasonable compromise while still adhering to the policy, and instead of sending me back an explanation of why it wouldn't be possible, they emailed my boss about making sure employees are aware of policy (which I was - I read it and was pretty clear in my email).
So I get called into my manager's office and hear about it there where he said something like it could make him appear as if he wasn't doing his job.
The whole thing made me pretty upset.
- management can be intractable when dealing with change - even if things structurally make sense, they may not be willing to invest the time to build a solid foundation for the long run
In my many years of being in my field, this is the only job of it's kind I have outright quit
