Pantone has no real understanding of what they’re doing or who they’re hiring. As long as L1 has money and can smile their way to the top, leadership seems satisfied. The millennials they did hire actually worked hard—but then they fired many of the ones who kept the place running and kept a few of the most disengaged, out-of-touch ones instead.

L1 leadership doesn’t hold real titles, doesn’t understand how the systems work, and shows no willingness to learn. Instead of building competence, they blow through budgets on lunches and social hangouts.

Following the acquisition of Pantone by Danaher Corporation (and its transition to Veralto Corporation), the culture and direction of the company changed significantly. Pantone has historically been a creative, design-driven organization, and many felt that the new corporate structure did not fully align with that identity. There was a noticeable shift toward financial performance metrics, sometimes at the expense of employee morale and product quality. Several leadership roles were filled by individuals without prior experience in the industry, and some mid-level managers were assigned to oversee functions they had not previously worked in. This created challenges in decision making and team support. Additionally, long-tenured employees were laid off with no notice, which contributed to concerns about job security and loyalty within the organization.
