Trauma bonding with my local team
Svantaggi
Kind of like the horror movie, but worse. Pinstripes is easily the most toxic work environment I have ever had the misfortune of being a part of, and the toxicity stems from the top down. The COO (who oversees the entire Sales Department) is degrading and misogynistic while his minion, the Regional Director of Sales follows him like a cow to slaughter. They guide the sales department using fear tactics and do nothing to help guide and coach their team using professional methods for positive growth. On weekly sales calls they are disrespectful to individuals and will call people out, instilling a greater sense of panic and paranoia. This then leads the Directors at each location to think these practices are okay with their individual locations, treating sales managers inhumanely and expecting them to take the fall for missed numbers or targets. People are let go without warning and talked about even after they've left. The corporate team, particularly the Regional Directors operate this business like the cool kids in high school. If, for whatever reason, they decide to stop liking you, you're probably out of a job. In a sales environment, of course hitting projections is the top priority, however Pinstripes sets unrealistic standards with no direction or support from the executive level of how to achieve their astronomical goals. You would think with such an emphasis on event sales, and the sales team driving the business overall, the company would provide a better workspace. Instead, 6-7 sales team members are expected to sell out of a closet while sitting on each other's lap. On top of closet sized offices, the sales team is expected to pick up the slack when other departments are failing at event execution. The promise of working one day remotely was promptly removed when "numbers were down," "events weren't being handled properly by FOH," or "just because the corporate team felt like it." The biggest failure, in my opinion, is a company of this size not having an HR department. Yes, you read that correctly. THERE IS NO HR WHATSOEVER. I'm sure one can only imagine why this is the case, but when employees are being mistreated and there is no one to report the misconduct to, the issues either get swept under the rug or perpetuated. New locations are in trouble. The corporate leadership team is corrupt, inept, and doesn’t have a clue how to run a successful business. With the company's plan to rapidly expand, the quality of the venues' infrastructure, and the teams’ wellbeing will suffer at a level beyond repair.
