Vantaggi

Some people are fun to work with. You can get great experience that will help you down the line in your career.

Svantaggi

HR is terrible here, the HR department is weak and useless and as a regular employee you don't mean much to the company(never forget that). You see people getting let go for stupid/bogus reasons. Why hire to begin with? There are many bullies and they have learned to play the game. It is very obvious HR is there to protect the management and the company. That is their goal and they will do anything. This will sound like advice to survive any corporate environment, but it's very applicable to survive at S1. Do not trust most people, especially the people that have been there for some time. Be aware of the spies, and most importantly, don't let them into your life. They practice Machiavellian principles and the "48 laws of power" to the T.

Vantaggi

Company size, nice and knowledgeable front line employees, fairly reasonable work life balance

Svantaggi

In the last few years, there have been some major changes in management, and not for the better. Employees are frequently pigeonholed and not allowed to train or learn new skills, but those in the "in crowd" are. If you do a job well, expect to be "pigeonholed" and not given the opportunity to move into a different area. Too much focus has been placed on hiring outsourced resources in order to reduce costs. Management in the last few years seems to really enjoy belittling employees and making them feel bad. Praise is rarely given, if at all. A lot of resources are being stretched very thin, but being held accountable when quality suffers. Pay raises have been mediocre the last few years (if at all). Management has also gotten very "top heavy" the last few years (how many VPs does the company need?), while worker bees are being laid off frequently.
