Svantaggi
My experience at SilverDoor was largely a poor one. Once upon a time SilverDoor prided itself on professional account management, however this descended over time in to selling absolutely anything to anyone who’d listen. There was pressure from the leaders to sell at all costs and this was compounded by OTE targets that were very unrealistic. The end result was that instead of sourcing the best apartment option for clients, SilverDoor would just book with whatever partner was offering the highest commission to them at the time. At times, some of the techniques used felt a bit unethical. For example, SilverDoor would often confirm a price to a client that the property provider hasn’t actually agreed to. SilverDoor would then put extreme pressure on the property provider to accept the made up price or lose the booking altogether. The department leadership team largely consists of SilverDoor-lifers. Although knowledgeable in their area, there’s a real lack of wider world business experience and it showed regularly. Promotions were nearly always based on friends promoting friends which led to the wrong people in the wrong roles typically out of their depth. I can only agree with the other reviews in that the level of micromanagement was off the scale. Managers had very few direct reports, but even then had zero trust in their team which to me felt like a reflection of their inability to lead effectively. Having now moved on to a new employer who operates very differently to SilverDoor, I can see that the opportunity to develop to a ‘real world’ standard just didn’t exist at SilverDoor. I asked for an exit interview upon leaving the company and shared my feelings with a HR colleague. It was a fruitless conversation and she just looked like an embarrassed rabbit in headlights!
