The issue with TowerGate lies within the management, issues are ignored instead of addressed. Firstly, the staff turnover is very high and it is because of the way staff are treated. It is a very toxic environment when it comes to how they manage their staff - you are monitored and spoke to in a patronising manor like school children. They will clock watch you on your breaks, monitor how many toilet breaks you’ve had and follow you into the kitchen when you are waiting for the kettle more than 5 minutes… Another con is salary, they try and impose a rule that nobody should be discussing it. However, in my personal experience, this is because they are paying new people more than existing staff. I personally had a heated discussion as somebody coming into my role was being offered £2,000 more a year despite no additional experience. Their justification is it was the cost of living amendment and that they would amend my salary to match but it would take a couple of months? Had I not overheard their offer, I would be none the wiser that the person I was training was being paid more! Lastly, the salary negotiation is only on the table once your resignation is. For months I said I needed more money else I would have to leave (TowerGate pay rate is significantly less to everywhere else in the insurance industry) and it was not possible up until I handed my notice in…
