Vantaggi
Working in an amusement park is fun. Free admission and work culture is decent, it's cool to hang out with teenagers and the internationals. I had the resources to do my job and most of the managers actually care about things going well.
Svantaggi
The managers in rides treated us all like kids, even when they know some of us are adults paying bills with this income. The managers carried an unserious tone and were often two-faced in front of the department versus in private. Overhiring seems to be a consistent theme year after year, and management plans for tons of call off that sometimes don't happen, so people get sent home. The manager in rides seemed completely unconcerned with this issue. The whole park has a budget-squeeze culture, apparently because of corporate budgeting. It made the work culture that developed feel unnecessarily cutthroat, as people would often be "extras" and get sent home unfairly when they should've been getting hours. The new HR director apparently fires nobody for misbehavior; one associate I worked with was on 3 final warnings and never got fired (because "he's an international" and "he has a work contract"). As a result people would get away with s*** and never see consequences. The only things I ever saw people get fired for was failing a drug test.
