First, consider looking at the reviews for “WPA Opinion Research”. It’s the same company but they are obviously trying to re-brand/change their name in the hopes to leave the negative baggage behind. In looking at all the reviews on both it’s clear they fall into two categories: 1) actual reviews by employees with honest feedback and 2) positive reviews that, for anyone who has ever worked there can clearly tell, were written by the c-suite in an effort to combat the negative reviews. Second, plan for the following: 1) extremely long hours, 2) being called into work after hours (anytime between 11pm and 3am) to re-do work the CEO didn’t look at until the night before the presentation despite having it for a week, 3) working on weekends, 4) getting paid like dirt, 5) being treated like dirt and nothing you do is good enough or right, 6) being yelled at when you are at dinner with a spouse (before going back to work) because you didn’t respond to an email quickly enough, 7) having no possibility for career advancement, even if you ask and show initiative, and 8) just generally being stressed out 24/7/365. As far as pay goes – expect very little and then you may be happy. Even people who are great at their jobs rarely get a raise and when they do it’s “cost of living”. And at the end of cycle you can expect a bonus but again, expect very little and then you may be happy. When I was there bonuses for analysts were typically a couple grand a most despite a year+ of hard work, long hours, stress, etc. (see above). But then you hear that one of the partners went and paid cash for a sports car with their bonus (really happened). At the end of the day it’s the current c-suite that creates the negativity and stressful work and they can’t seem to understand that all the turnover and negative reviews are on them. At some point if you keep doing the same thing and expecting different results…well you know. But they don’t get that. So save yourself and if you are considering working here just move on to the next opportunity. You will be glad you did.
