There are aspects of the lay-offs that was handled poorly and showed evidence of weak leadership, who can learn to show more empathy. I acknowledge that they offered a good severance to employees, but it is quite surprising that no one in leadership (at least none that I am aware of) said anything publicly about the lay-off or soliciting support from their network to help people get jobs. Instead, the priority is announcing new funding and trying to protect your image. This is a rough economic climate and you can at least show people support asides from a severance. Lay-offs can be tough and it takes people time to process the impact....that is when leadership can/should step up to show more support, it goes a long way, especially for a company that talks about social impact or being employee driven.

Well run company and engineering department. Nice and supportive coworkers. It's a company that has a mission and really believes in it and it's ability to improve people's lives. Opportunity to travel to work with others and to experience the African markets the company operates in.

Svantaggi

Engineering is fully remote, which can be a little isolating. That said, people are always willing to jump on a call. Pay is on the low side.

On feedback, we already have suggestion boxes in some of our operating countries. We encourage you to check in with your People Ops lead for more information on how you can share your ideas or concerns.
