In 2023, Ryerson challenged our teams to a Ryerson Gives Back contest. After announcing the winners in February, each winning market was awarded a donation in the amount of $2,500 to be made to the disadvantaged youth, family, or community charity of their choice. The East Multi-Market, which hosted the greatest number of events in 2023, chose to make their donation to Heart of West Michigan United Way, a non-profit organization working to reduce poverty in Kent County, Michigan.
The management team at our facility in Eldridge hosted a special celebration last Friday for Employee Appreciation Day. Ed Chevrestt, operations manager, and Kimberly Hill, operations assistant manager, shared their heartfelt thanks with their team, bringing in cupcakes for employees to enjoy and gifting each team member with a water bottle filled with treats!
The Ryerson team in Green Bay, WI, volunteered at House of Hope, an organization providing emergency shelter and housing stability programs for parents with young children. Employees helped with maintenance of the House of Hope facility - raking, picking up trash, weeding, and helping to clean and organize donation space. Through volunteer work like this, the House of Hope shelter can serve up to 20 families experiencing homelessness or unstable living conditions
In Des Moines, IA, Ryerson employees volunteered with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Iowa, helping to assemble 144 hygiene kits containing toothpaste, soap, shampoo, and more for youth served by their local facilities
