      Colloquio

Phone interview went well, was invited in for onsite interview. Very small company, 4 employees a month ago. Interviewed with Admin Assistant and Account Manager (owner). The longest interview I have ever had in my career - 3 hours, granted I am long winded, but introduced me to staff, seemed like very nice place to work. Technical staff very knowledgeable, very impressed with skills of the other staff members. I need to be upfront - I have 5 CompTIA certs, Windows Server MTA cert, tutor at local community college for CompTIA certs and personally getting ready to take CCNA exam soon and continue along with Cisco certs. I was completely upfront and honest with Account Manager - I get 5 - 7 recruiters calling daily - of all of that and 20 years IT experience usually get 3 - 4 interviews week. I wanted something close to home, Monday - Friday, regular business hours. I was willing to take little bit of pay cut, with asking for 90 day review. All that said - I made him aware - my biggest pet peeve of all, when someone says they will do something and do not deliver, I get pretty frustrated. Again, he very nice fellow, great work ethic, business booming. Initially I offered to put 2 other job offers on hold, was supposed to hear back Friday. Did not happen, said there is a process must go through, yada yada. I gave it until the following Wednesday, he never called. I got frustrated and actually already accepted my current role, more money and much more opportunity for growth. I was offering to try to drum up business in my neighborhood, etc - never gave me a clear answer in email other than I can make an appointment if I wanted further reasons. Personally, and professionally, I could care less for the "reasons" I was not selected - I simply emailed him back and made it clear I already had 3 job offers waiting. I have to mention one item, I offered to do a 1099 status as another employee there does, apparently the owner may have not been happy about that? I was told by my next door neighbor who is actually works for IRS as an accountant it would not be wise to go 1099, I mentioned this and response via email from owner was this was new info, apparently he does not carry workers comp insurance on his business as it is an LLC? Either way, I was disappointed as twice was told I was "at top of the list". I went ahead and accepted the other job, much happier. I going into interview explained I cannot tolerate flaky employers, I shook his hand after interview giving him my word I would like to work for him. What the reasons, again I can care less, the reason I am open and honest with these interviews - with my certs and experience I can get a job easily. Just disappointed the owner thought I would stick around waiting for him? Oh well, I wish him well on his journey. I need to add - i was shocked when was told they are looking for ethical and honest people - I am accustomed to full background check and drug test. I was told a drug test is a personal thing? Never heard that one before. It seems like good business, just not the place for me. I go by what s in front of me, someone tells me they will call - then flake out - just move on to the next job. Nice to have choices, I really do not worry about burning bridges. To many IT jobs out there,
