      Colloquio

The process consists of several interviews. It starts with a quick screening with the recruiter, followed by a 30 minute meeting with the hiring manager, and then another 30 minute meeting with the hiring manager's boss. Lastly, there is a panel interview with six people, spread over three sessions, each lasting up to 45 minutes with two interviewers at a time. The first panel interview is with program managers nothing fancy here. The questions are related to program management and Agile methodologies. The second interview is supposed to focus on Tableau and how you use it, but in reality, it tests your ability to quickly analyze and interpret data. They will send you the dataset only an hour before the interview, giving you little time to get acquainted with it. Additionally, you'll need to install Tableau Public on your computer, which they inform you about very late in the process. The final part is a SQL interview. Once again, the real test isn't about writing SQL code but about understanding, in a very short amount of time, the relationships among five different tables using an IDE you've likely never used (PopSQL). For this SQL portion, they won’t share the data with you beforehand or provide any sort of data lineage. This makes simple queries, such as joining tables, more time-consuming because you have no idea how the tables are related. Probably the worst aspect of the entire process is the pressure of writing code or performing an analysis while two people watch everything you do. Not even during a school exam would a teacher observe every single part of your work so closely. This process should be replaced with an offline exercise or an online assessment where candidates aren’t constantly under observation. I really wonder if that’s how they work at Amplify having a colleague watch every single thing you do. In general, if you’re rejected, you’ll receive minimal feedback, and only if you explicitly ask for it. I believe candidates deserve more meaningful feedback than a generic rejection, especially after spending 4.5 hours in the hiring process. In summary, do not waste your time with Amplify. Their hiring process is clearly flawed, designed to create immense pressure during the analytics and SQL sections. I find this approach ridiculous and not reflective of how applicants should be treated. There’s even another review here for a data analyst position where the pressure of constant observation also had a negative impact.
