I applied to a job posting for the position. After a follow-up email I got a brief phone interview with a recruiter, I was invited to interview on site at the Apple headquarters in Cupertino. All of my expenses were covered. The usual hotel that Apple uses was full so they put me up in the Cupertino Inn which I would guess had a cozy local vibe (for Cupertino). I had a brief lunch meeting with the recruiter. This was a good window into the corporate culture. The lunch plaza was bustling and there was some energy in the air.
After lunch, I went to a panel interview where I presented some of my work. I presented in a mostly-empty medium sized conference room with an expansive rear projection display. The panel included members of the team I would be working with. The questions were very direct, informed, and pointed. In general I was impressed with how focussed the interview was, and it was immediately evident during the interview the skills and specific experience the team was seeking.
