The owner is talking about how hard they built their business and there are no answers for how many people actually working for them, nor which contract work you will be working on. So at the end, you felt they are trying to lure you into their trap, and work for them. Do not expect any promises you were given, because they will not finally be written on your offer, so do not believe anything they talked during the interview.
