      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura online. La procedura ha richiesto 5 mesi. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Asian Development Bank (Manila, ) nel mese di ago 2017

      Colloquio

Thought long and hard before deciding to post my experience with ADB as I was not sure if it was just the process taking an age or just how they operate and I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt...sadly it would appear to be the latter! I applied online back in June 2017 and then 2 months later in August I received an email on a Wednesday, inviting me to Manila for a face to face panel interview on the Friday, so 2 days notice! I managed to make the necessary arrangements to attend (all at my own cost) and confirmed my attendance with their HR. I was then sent details as to whom was on the panel that would be interviewing me. The panel consisted of the Director, Unit Head and a Specialist. They were all international staff. I arrived for the interview approx. 20 minutes early and was somewhat surprised to be led directly in to the interview room and commenced the interview. The first thing the Director said was that we had 30 minutes for the interview, which l found strange given that I was 20 minutes early! If I had arrived on time would that have meant the interview would have lasted only 10 minutes! Anyway, the interview started off and I have to say that I was impressed by the Panel members, all three where professional and asked good questions. It went around the room with each member taking their turn asking me questions. The questions where not as technical as I had expected, given the nature of the role I was applying for, more generic and standard HR textbook stuff. Anyway, this went on for the full 30 minutes and I thought the interview had gone well. I took the opportunity at the end to ask a couple of questions of my own and with that it was handshakes all around and I thanked them for their time and hoped to hear from them soon. From this point on my experience with ADB has been very disappointing and why I felt the need to share it on here. Its now been 2 months since the interview and I have not heard a single word back from the ADB HR department. I did send a thank you email straight after the interview which was forwarded to the panel and I also sent one follow up email 2 weeks after that to which I did not get a reply. So with the lack of response and communication coming from ADB I decided to contact a very good friend of mine who is a Director at ADB and see if he could get me some feedback on my application. It turns out that the position was given to someone internally, nothing wrong with that and I half expected it to be honest as I know that this is how ADB works, it will never change. My frustration comes from the fact that this was a technical position that needed a specific professional qualification, not available to anyone internally, and also the complete lack of respect their HR department have shown me in not even having the courtesy to send me a rejection email. Lesson learnt and I will not waste my time applying to ADB again after this experience. It would seem it is harder to get out than it is to get in, but no sour grapes on my part, I just think they should have the decency to advise candidates they are unsuccessful and if the role is earmarked for someone internally stop the farcical job interviews, wasting professional peoples time to play their silly numbers game. Very disappointing experience and not an organisation I would want to associate with anymore.
