Colloquio per Senior Business Intelligence Engineer

      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura tramite un selezionatore. La procedura ha richiesto 2 settimane. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Beyond Finance (Chicago, IL) nel mese di nov 2023

      Colloquio

I interviewed with the recruiter, did the SQL assessment, and interviewed with the Director for this role before being rejected. I would say my interview experience was neutral but I came away with a negative opinion of the company, In my Director interview, she told me point blank that the company experienced high levels of attrition and was one of the fastest paced environments she's ever worked in. She also said that it's a place that not everyone can make it in which does not sound inclusive at all and that if you do not hit your 30/60/90 plan the company terminates you. I think this speaks very poorly about the company's culture and from speaking to her I suspect that it's a fairly toxic working environment, In addition, the recruiting team seemingly does the bare minimum in preparing their candidates for their interviews. After I completed the SQL assessment I had to follow up with the recruiter a few days later to see if I had passed and was told I'd be meeting with another interviewer. I had to look the person up on linkedin myself to see what their role in the company was (and her linkedin was not actually up to date so even that was an inference) and was given no context about what to expect in the interview. In my initial recruiter screen, they had mentioned the process included a SQL assessment, a technical interview with a data engineer, and then final meetings with the Director and VP. When I discovered who the interviewer was on linkedin myself, I thought perhaps I was skipping an interview stage and began preparing for behavioral interview questions. The interview with the Director ended up being fairly technical with questions digging into Looker and SQL skills which I was unprepared for, If the recruiter had done even the bare minimum of letting me know that, I would have been much better prepared for the interview. Speaking as an autistic person, this process was difficult in that it was unclear and nerve wracking. I spend a lot of time preparing for interviews as they are very difficult for me and being taken off guard with interview questions I wasn't expecting made the interview all the more difficult for me, affecting my performance. As someone who has worked in recruiting and specifically on recruiting branding, I suggest that the team works on communicating with candidates. Preparing candidates for interviews and your specific process sets them up for success and helps them put their best foot forward, which in turns helps you find the best prospective employees. I found the lack of communication to be a hindrance to my performance and not inclusive. I did give feedback directly to the team and they did not acknowledge it other than to say they were moving forward with other candidates. I would not interview with the company again and at this point, would not recommend the company based on my experience with them. It seems toxic and completely non-inclusive which in 2023 is unacceptable.
