The first visit was just a standard interview, pretty standard questions. I spoke with both a woman and Christian Oth. At first, I found him to be a bit off-putting, clearly full of himself, but it didn't bother me that much - many artists are. The second visit was more of a retouching test. They had me come in and retouch a bunch of images. After I retouched for the day everything seemed like it went well. The people working around me in the office were very nice and friendly although they are clearly a bit wary of Christian. Later on I realized why when I met with Christian and he told me they did want to hire me but that he didn't want to pay the rate they had initially said. He said my retouching was good but he compared the number of images I did on my first test day, working in a brand new file system, brand new retouching notes - to the other retoucher he had that had been there for years. He basically implied that I was not worth as much as I thought because I was slower than her. Any retoucher will tell you the first day of a new job is the slowest, especially if you are being especially careful because you are being tested. I was honestly shocked at how blatantly he was attempting to shame me and de-value me into taking a lower offer. It was one of the most disgusting negotiation tactics I have ever experienced. I followed my gut and rejected his offer and was hired at a different company a couple weeks later for more than double what he was willing to pay. Unless you are desperate for experience or enjoy being degraded, I would avoid this place. Even if you are desperate for experience think about the fact that this underhanded man will be the one you are relying on for a future recommendation when you want to leave his studio...because I doubt he will support you in your decision. My interview happened a little over two years ago, I never bothered to write this review until now because I just saw his studio start popping up with open positions and I thought people deserved to know what to expect.
