      Colloquio

I was recommended to this organization by a close friend of mine. I applied online, and was contacted by a recruiter the next day to begin the employee referral process. The recruiter was awesome, and we had a conversation about my qualifications that went over the allotted time which I had taken as a good sign. Initially I had a good feeling about the organization because of how prompt and professional he was. I was scheduled for a panel interview the following week via WebEx the day after my phone screen. The interview was conducted by a panel of three hiring managers, however, the one in charge of technical questions was unable to interact with me because he was having connection issues, so the interview turned into a customer service / personality interview. While I felt the interview went well, the interview was less structured than I thought it would be. The primary interviewer talked more about how great the second interviewer was and how proud he was of her and how cool their various Slack channels were instead of asking me questions about my experience, how I would fit into the organization, or my technical aptitude. I also found it strange that they didn't answer questions about, or ask any specific questions about their Simulator product or the role itself beyond general answers. Basically, the interview felt more like a sales pitch of how great the company is to work for than an interview. I had originally requested feedback on the interview performance. After approximately six weeks I got a canned "thanks but no thanks" response, which means the managers likely forgot about my app because the primary manager said they were looking to "move fast" during the interview. If I could say anything to the hiring managers it would be please be respectful of your candidate's time - I'm not applying simply because I need a job, but because I'm genuinely interested in your organization, and have some belief in your products and goals of the organization.
