Screening interview with two employees. After I introduced myself as a "statistician", they began to question me with suspicion. "Why would a Statistician want to join our firm?"
This experience really lowered my opinion of Coherent Economics' professional and academic capabilities. The fact that they would suspiciously question a statistician (I have an MS in Statistics and a BS in Economics) as not fit for economic research and consulting makes me seriously question whether these people are competent at all. They seem to not understand that econometrics, which is a core tool in economic research and consulting, is applied statistics.
Also their about us page on their website literally says "We are a team of professional economists, accountants, statisticians, consultants, and data analysts," which I suppose is just marketing fluff because they seem to not respect the role of statistics in economic consulting.
Coherent Economics appears to be staffed by clowns.
