      An initial short call, followed by a video call with the hiring manager to discuss the suitability for the role, and a final technical interview split into a personal attitude and a pair programming technical competence test.

      For the final interview, several questions about challenges of working with other people and best practices. E.g. Could you name a situation when you have had to deal with difficulties and how did you cope?

      The second part of the final interview was a coding challenge in Node paring up with another senior developer.

      One of the requirements was to write Node without looking up any examples from the web. Overall, the technical coding challenge seemed to be very poorly organized. Of course, it did not help that the other developer leading the coding challenge did not want to switch on his camera. My advice is to negotiate the topics of the technical challenge beforehand and make sure that they stick to it; otherwise, it is just a matter of luck whether you will know how to do it.

      Thank you for your feedback, we've taken this on board to ensure that our interviews moving forward can be improved and one area we will highlight and notify candidates about in the future is whether someone wishes to have their camera turned on or off. As almost all interviews are now carried out remotely and especially as we have a neuro diverse team, we realise that one model won't suit all. We've also reviewed how we can improve our paired programming challenges and will be looking at making further improvements as part of our journey.
