After the first in person round of interviews for the Values team, I got positive results and was invited to a second round in New York. I am a consultant and working on a busy client case, but was told that they needed to do the second round in person because I will be meeting with very senior people. It took me several days of moving client meetings around and telling my entire case team and clients that I will be out on the day of the interview. A few days before the scheduled interview, the hiring manager (portfolio manager on values team) called me to ask whether my travel has already been booked. As soon as I said no, he quickly ended the call => immediate red flag. I got an email an email from the recruiter to say that they are no longer interested in meeting with me again and my interview is cancelled. I am fine with being rejected for the second round - but tell me right after my first round instead of AFTER it's already been scheduled. I tried calling the hiring manager back for why they suddenly changed their mind, and of course, he did not call me back. I interviewed with AB in good faith, and they were disrespectful in return. A hiring manager who calls you out of the blue a few days before the scheduled interview to ask if the firm has already paid for your travel, then hanging up without telling me I have been rejected face to face and going through the recruiter shows a complete lack of integrity, transparency, and ethics. This must be permeated in their culture. Who would want to work at a company who treats candidates with such disrespect?
