A call with the recruiter first. The recruiter was great. 30 minutes with SVP of Engineering (with a list of technical questions), followed by 60 minutes with their tech lead (for a coding assessment). The 30-min call was, in retrospect, to assess short answers to a list of technical questions. (Though, why not outsource the technical screen to a third party / an engineer in this area if one isn't available in house?) I was not comfortable in the 30-min call; the interviewer interrupted mid sentence to say to move on, visibly displaying annoyance. Nor did I get the impression that this person looked at my linkedin or my resume. Reversing perspectives: I suspect I was too verbose for the interviewer. Speculative and I could be wrong, but the SVP's work/leadership style might just be to expect to interact with others as subordinates rather than equals or experts in their fields, expecting succinct answers to questions rather than a collaborative dialogue (or anything resembling the STAR framework). Don't know if it matters, but I am older than the SVP interviewer and have been in the field a long time. This was virtual; maybe in person it would've been better. Your experience might be better than mine, but if you interview here, just make sure that it's the right culture fit for you given the above.
