Interview process was fairly standard. Applied on the website, was contacted by the recruiter to set up the initial interview with the manager. Interview went great and communication seemed synchronous. After this, a 2nd interview was scheduled for a few days later. That interview was who I understood to be the hiring manager. It went very well again, and we had conversations around salary. There was potentially going to be a final 3rd courtesy interview with the CRO, but I was told they were looking at skipping that step and going straight to the offer. Was told by the person in the first interview that she told the hiring manager that "We need this guy". This conversation was had on a Friday. Surprisingly, I received a rejection email on the following Monday afternoon, and when I asked for an explanation, all I received back was "the hiring manager decided to go in a different direction". Considering how positive the feedback was in the first two interviews, I can't imagine what went into rejecting me as a candidate.
