This was such a puzzling experience for me. They begin with a screener call, which is apparently different than the recruiter interview. First, the screener was 45 minutes late to the call. Thankfully I answered my phone when she called because I would’ve missed it. The screener asked me all the same questions I answered in my application. That’s what made it so puzzling. She didn’t ask me anything new, and certainly not any open ended questions. I’m not sure if Anthem uses contracted individuals to conduct these interviews, but it felt like this person didn’t know what she was doing and didn’t know much about the company. When I asked about next steps, she said that the recruiter would call me to verify all my answers from the screening call, and finally I would meet with the hiring manager, who would be responsible for providing the offer. When I completed the call, I felt so confused. I followed up with an email to thank the screener for her time, but I never heard back. I also haven’t received a rejection from Anthem, which is a common practice for this company. So, I’m not sure if I’ll ever hear back, but I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if the results from the call never made it to the recruiter. It was just so bizarre.
