      Colloquio

      I applied online and made it to the final round. The process was: recruiter call, hiring manager call, 2 1:1s (product and engineering), homework that you present to a panel of 3 (HM, IC product person, managerial product person), and then final meeting with an executive. The hiring team continuously got back to me quickly after each round except when it was after the panel presentation, they took awhile to get back to me. The homework piece was to watch some videos of actual teaching sessions and learn more about their products and users. Then there are 3 prompts about your key takeaways on what's working well and what's not, the top 3 design ideas to improve the experience for their different users, and then an example of something you've shipped in a short period of time that was valuable to users. Everyone was friendly during the 1:1s and panel interview. The final round was a meeting with an exec. We're in the same city, so I was asked to meet with them in person, but they expected me to meet on a Saturday, which I agreed to but then they had to reschedule last minute (less than 2 hours before meeting time). I get things come up, but I don't think it's appropriate to do a saturday meeting in the first place, that implies poor work-life balance at the company. This interviewer also seemed distracted and I felt like they didn't want to be there. I was put off by this experience. There was no reimbursement for commuting to meet with the interviewer in person. More than 2 weeks after this final interview, I received a generic email from the recruiter that they decided not to continue with my candidacy. Considering I made it to the final round, did the homework, and talked to an executive in person, giving me a more personal email or a phone call would have been a better experience as a candidate. I asked for feedback, but did not receive a response. I was excited about the company because I'm passionate about education and I felt like I had good convos with the PM, UX leader, and product leader, but because of how things went down at the end, maybe it was for the better.
