      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura tramite un'altra fonte. La procedura ha richiesto 2 giorni. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Ethniki (Atene, , Attica) nel mese di giu 2026

      Colloquio

Two days after applying for a position posted online by a recruitment agency on behalf of an insurance company, I received a called by the HRBP of Ethniki asking me to arrange an interview as early as the next day because they were very impressed by my CV and want to see me as soon as possible. Even though the whole approach seemed odd to me, because of the urgency and the fact that he never mentioned his name (just his title and the company), that he called me at 8pm and even asked me to bring a print copy of my CV because he had misplaced it somewhere, I agreed to have the meeting the next day at Ethniki's offices, as requested. The actual interview was even more weird: when I arrived at their offices, he greeted me again without telling me his name and simply handed me a questionaire with several open-ended questions regarding my experience, skills, and even my views on being paid solely according to performance/results. Not 5 minutes had passed after giving me the questionaire and he came back out asking me if I was done. Surprised, I answered no and he just brushed it off saying I can finish it after our talk. For the next 20 minutes or so, he made small talk about his carreer and family with a few questions here and there about my previous job roles but always focusing on the companies I worked for rather than my actual professional experience and skills. At some point he started explaining to me how the insurance sector works, and about Ethniki's rapid growth as a multinational company and its main business units and insurance products. After this brief speech, he told me that he has two positions in mind for me - both on an executive level because of my impressive CV, Being a bit confused by this, since I had applied for one, specific position, I tried asking him about it in reference to the job posting but he repeatedly cut me off saying that I shouldn't be bothered with job ads and that Ethniki, like all multinational companies, has a specific process that leads to its executive positions. After about 10-15 minutes of me insisting to get more specific info and details and him being vague and general, I finally got a straight answer: the two positions he had to offer me where for secretary/personal assistant and for insurance salesperson, which at some point might lead to an executive position but I may not even want to make the move because in sales I would make tons of money, like 15.000-20.000 euro a month. Buffled and irritated, I told him that I am not interested in a career change and if the specific position from the job posting I had applied for is not available, then there's no point in continuing this interview. His response was that this is how all multinational companies work - first you go through sales and then you move to executive positions - and that in reality he found me through a job portal and not because I had applied to a specific job posting. At which point, I declined his offer, thanked him and left.

      Domande di colloquio [1]

      Domanda 1

They asked if I would be interested in working as a salesperson first and then if there's an opening to move to an executive position.
