I met the company's CEO the summer before i applied, and i very much enjoyed my conversation with him, as well as what he had to say about Green Gen. From there, I submitted my resume via email, and interviewed first via phone with a few employees a few months later. Later, in January or February, I spoke again via Skype with the CEO--not an interview, just a conversation. Up until here, it was a positive and professional interview experience.
Then, later in February, I was contacted about scheduling the second and final interview. The scheduling was a few emails back and forth with an HR Representative/Office Manager, and the chain concluded with my offering a specific time and date, asking if this worked on their end. I received no response back, and no confirmation from this representative for the second round interview. Perhaps a day or a few days later, I received a blank email from this representative, which was extremely confusing. I responded to this email, asking what this was about or if this was sent accidentally. Again, no response.
Checking in intermittently, I emailed this representative several times over the next two weeks, offering times I was free to schedule the second interview. I received no response to each of these emails.
Finally, several weeks after our initial email chain, I emailed the CEO to ask if I could schedule the second interview. Finally, hours after sending this email to the CEO, the representative responds, telling me that I missed my interview, and that they had Skype called me several times a few days after I had first suggested an interview time. After reading this email, I was extremely confused, since we had never officially agreed to a time. As it turns out, the blank email that was sent to me was probably a failed Outlook invite sent to my college email account. I had no idea whether or not my interview was scheduled, so I missed these Skype calls. I told the representative why I thought we had a miscommunication and sent screenshots of the blank email. She responded that she had sent an Outlook invite; at any rate, I never accepted this invite, so technically the interview was never confirmed as scheduled. She did not get any more information about the interview process. I assumed that the position was filled, and gave up.
In summary, this was an extremely frustrating process. I communicated several times after not receiving confirmation of the second round interview, but to each and every one of my emails over several weeks (including my reply to the blank email), I received no response from this HR representative. In fact, it was only after emailing the CEO that this representative responded. I can only hope that, in the future, Green Gen can streamline and better organize its interviewing process, and respond to its emails.
