I applied through indeed.com and a recruiter located my resume and wanted to know if I was interested in this opening, of course, I was, and the job prospect did sound promising. I got a request from the hiring manager through the recruiter to set up a phone interview, so I accepted that request and I get an email about 30 to 45 minutes later saying that recruiter decided internally. That was upsetting. The recruiter was very vague about why the hiring manager decided to do this.
