I received an email from a recruiter asking me to schedule a brief phone conversation with her. At the end of that conversation she asked to schedule a convo with the hiring manager, which I did do. After the phone convo with the hiring manager, I was told there would be three of four final candidates coming in for an interview. A day or two later I received an email from the recruiter saying that I was no longer in the candidate pool.
