      Colloquio

      I was initially contacted by a recruiter on LinkedIn about this opportunity. During the first conversation, I was told that the role involved a significant amount of UI/UX and design work, and that design responsibilities were not optional. I was transparent from the beginning that I am a frontend engineer and while I am open to learning design tools, it is not the direction I want to focus my career on. Despite that, the recruiter still scheduled an interview. During the interview, I spoke with an HR representative and another interviewer from the technical team. The experience felt quite disorganized. The HR interviewer asked a long sequence of questions but rarely acknowledged or reacted to the answers, which made the conversation feel very one sided. At the same time, the technical interviewer repeatedly asked about experience with Ruby on Rails and Python, even though my CV clearly shows a frontend background and does not mention those technologies. At one point I was also asked why I applied to the company, even though the process started because I was contacted by their recruiter. Overall, the interview felt poorly aligned with the role that was initially described and with my background. I would recommend that the recruiting team better align expectations internally before reaching out to candidates, and that interviewers review a candidate’s profile beforehand so the discussion can be more relevant and productive.
