Recruiter reached out to me - Phone screen + chat with engineering manager Standard phone screen, technical concepts/trivia with engineering manager - Virtual onsite Technical interview: React question via CodeSandbox with one interviewer. Had technical issues with CodeSandbox which made the interview a little difficult, as it was supposed to be a coding and debugging interview, but CodeSandbox wasn't running the code. Interviewer handled it decently well. Systems design: Standard systems design question, nothing too special Product design: Design a product with a product manager, nothing out of the ordinary Chat/Behavioral with upper management: Pretty standard, good opportunity to ask questions about the company Received an offer a few days later. I was asked to provide 3 references, two of which later told me they were surprised at how in depth the questions were, with one telling me that "it felt like I was the one getting interviewed". I was interviewing with another company at the time, also at final stages, so I asked for some time to consider. Upon receiving an offer from the other company (and brief negotiation), I connected with Hearth's engineering manager to negotiate something that was at least in the ballpark of my other offer. Hearth was unwilling to budge without me giving out a hard number, which I did (roughly equivalent to total compensation of my other offer). Offer rescinded after 1 day. Overall interview process experience was positive. Having an offer rescinded at the first sign of negotiation was a surprise to say the least, considering that other benefits (outside of base/total compensation) were also little lacking compared to my other offer.
