They should not have asked this question if they do not understand basic concepts in Excel. I also scored high on my advanced excel test and they had my test score, so they really did not ask this question. When I mentioned I learned a formula that made pulling data faster from a manager, and would pick up tricks from group projects with co-workers when I was first learning they took this as me having no analytical skills even though I managed forecasting and KPIs for over two years in my previous role with close to 40 suppliers, that I mentioned in person, and was listed on my resume. They took this as being resourceful, and not having analytical skills...run!
