Answering an overly broad question is fair enough question. I was interviewing for a position with pay, title and scope fully in tactical execution of event and trade show logistics. Asking an overly broad question for a position buried in careful attention to details and execution reflected a disregard for the nuance of the position. It would be like me asking "how do you sell a software system?" Answerable, but not meaningful or thoughtful.

The interviewer wanted you to explain your entire process i.e. go through each and every step from registering for the show, planning all of the logistics, going through any pre-show sales trainings to actual show activities, to post-show follow-up, etc, etc. The more specific you can be, the better.
