This would depend on the situation. If there's a fire, or something else bad like that then you would calmly, but quickly grab a fire extinguisher, and attempt to put the fire out. You also would make sure that your residents are safe and out of harms way. If the situation is above my scope of practice, then I'd report it immediately to the Charge Nurse, or the Administrator. All situations are different therefore should be handled accordingly.
