Colloquio
I applied for two internship positions 12month lab based intern and biochemistry intern. Each of them involves two stages - firstly the Hire View recorded interview then final stage interview involving presentations with current staff
Domande di colloquio [1]
Domanda 1
For the 12month lab based intern:
1. Candidate presentation and discussion on something you've worked on (30 min)
2. Introduction to CAD team (10 min)
3. Q&A (20 min)
for the biochemistry intern position:
You will be required to do a 30-minute presentation, broken down into 2:
15 mins- tell us about your favourite lab project. What did you learn and what would you do differently if you had unlimited resources?
1. 15 minutes - Tell us about using bead linked transposomes (BLTs) in Illumina library prep.
2. 30 minutes - With the current intern
Technical questions will be asked throughout the presentations and in the remaining interview slot.
Virtual interview, I didn't get to talk to a real person, had to record all of my answers with a time limit, it was a horrible process and there was very little human communication
The first step was an audio-only hirevue that allowed two attempts. After passing that, there were two video call interviews with team members for a total of around 90 minutes give or take.

Colloquio
Weird video interview where they asked me "How would you explain to a 6-year-old why the sky is orange at sunset." The other question I don't remember but was equally strange for a 2-question video interview. It felt very impersonal.
