I was able to answer all the questions in depth, and during the interview, the interviewer acknowledged multiple responses with comments like “makes sense” and “good answer,” which gave a positive signal. However, I was surprised to receive a rejection afterward based on a very minor point, I mentioned that I hadn’t used FastAPI in the last 3 years. This seemed disproportionate, especially given that the role was architectural in nature and the discussion itself demonstrated broader system design and problem-solving capability. It felt less like a skill-based rejection and more like a subjective decision, possibly influenced by a single detail rather than the overall performance. Feedback for improvement: - Evaluation should align with the role’s expectations (architecture vs specific framework recency) - If a particular tool is a strict requirement, it should be clearly communicated upfront - Consistency between interview feedback during the discussion and final decision would improve candidate experience Hoping this helps improve the process for future candidates.
