      Colloquio per Backend

      27 apr 2016
      Candidato anonimo a colloquio
      Offerta rifiutata
      Esperienza positiva
      Colloquio difficile

      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura tramite un selezionatore. La procedura ha richiesto 2 mesi. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso JWP (JW Player) nel mese di mar 2016

      Colloquio

Behavioral phone screen followed by a HackerRank code challenge. Then two more phone screens. Then an on-site interview (which I could not attend, so we used Google Hangouts instead). The on-site consisted of an initial programming question where we talked through a solution. A solid understanding of basic data structures and algorithms was required for this question. It was not "how does this data structure work?", rather it tested my ability to use data structures to solve a problem. Then I had to actually write code. I had to write a fairly simple command line program. I was given around 45 minutes and solved it with a little bit of time left over. Then I spoke with a PM/scrum leader. He was really nice and we talked about the work at JW Player. It seemed very interesting and challenging. Finally, I had one more challenge that involved a rather advanced/esoteric data structure. I knew the solution, but had never implemented it before, so I had to work through it with the interviewers. In the end I was able to solve it correctly.

      Domande di colloquio [5]

      Domanda 1

(HackerRank code challenge) Extremely simple warmup question
      Rispondi alla domanda

      Domanda 2

(HackerRank code challenge) Slightly complicated fizzbuzz question
      Rispondi alla domanda

      Domanda 3

(On-site) Warmup application of data structures problem
      Rispondi alla domanda

      Domanda 4

(On-site) Implement a pretty straightforward stdout/stdin problem. After you do that, scale it. The point of this question is less about whether you can solve the problem and more about how you solve the problem and how quickly you solve it. If you write clean code, you can easily scale the program. If you don't, you won't finish in the allotted time.
