      Colloquio

My first interaction with this company was to schedule my initial phone interview which started with the employee asking if I knew about the company, which I did. After my statement he sounded disappointed and then told me I could just put the phone down and did not have to listen as he “had to read” the statement from the company, which was oozing what can only be described as propaganda on how much employees love the company and how great the company is. Upon finishing this he asked if I was there and was both surprised and happy I actually listened to him. This entire time I got weird dystopian nightmare vibes. After I asked if the position was either hourly or salary and the response I received was “Yes, Salary is how much money the company pays you in a year”. He told me the definition of ‘salary’. I asked several other questions and he knew nothing about the position and eventually admitted so. The 2nd person scheduling my interview said it would be in person, and after I asked if it was a specific location I was familiar with, she then took several minutes to look up the address to confirm. The interview was also scheduled at a time where there were only 3 people left on site and the doors were locked. I was left standing in the parking lot and luckily ran into someone leaving for the day who let me in and called the interviewing manager. The interview went well, I was able to share some knowledge and highlight why this position is needed while pointing out some issues. After a few days I received an offer but the letter stated I’d find out about benefits later and the vacation time during my new hire orientation. I was not ok with that so I followed up asking questions and I received a few documents that contradicted each other but for the most part the benefits weren’t that good and rather expensive. I read vacation time which was average, but there was no mention of sick time so I asked how many sick days the company offers and I was told “they don’t do sick time”. This is an issue for a few reasons but the biggest is its against my states labor laws. I had to call the interviewing manager using his business card to ask as the recruiter had no information. After all of this and a knot in my stomach of how this company would be to work for, I asked after receiving all the information I needed how much time until I needed to make my decision. I got a response later that the offer was rescinded due to budgetary reasons. I chose "yes, but i declined" as the real reason was not an option
