Where do I start…..I ended up taking a job with a competitor which I LOVE. My comp is is 50k+ what Koya caps your commissions at and I don’t get worked to the bone which you will with this company. I’ve worked in the industry for 5 years and know my stuff/what is acceptable. Koya is preying on younger employees expecting they don’t. You will obviously work hard in med sales that’s a given. However the Koya interview process quickly turns from “fit” to how much will you tolerate. After 3 interviews I was told to meet a “manager” for a ride along 2.5 hours from where I live at 7am. My day ended at 8:30 pm…after a ridiculous day with the “manager” who cussed like a sailor and was beyond unprofessional. He was traveling to my potential territory from NYC every week because of constant turnover which he attributed to lazy employees and of course no fault of his own. Anyway I strongly advise you find a company in med device who has your best interest and growth in mind because they are out there. There is a reason most of the employees at Koya have been with them a year or less. I also debriefed with the recruiter who admitted to me they were a “nightmare” to work with and would likely be dropping their contract to hire for them. Anyway unless you enjoy working 14 hour days with capped commissions STEER CLEAR and don’t settle. There are much better ways to break into med device.

I had a really positive experience interviewing with Koya Medical for a Product Specialist role. The process starts with a personality assessment (the TRI) designed to see if your traits align with the demands of a sales role. If you move forward from there, you participate in a field ride to get a firsthand look at what the job actually looks like day to day, which I thought was a great way to make the process more transparent for candidates. My field ride was with Mike Bucci, and he was fantastic. He was extremely friendly, approachable, and incredibly knowledgeable about both the product and the role. He took the time to walk me through everything he was doing throughout the day and answered every question I had with real detail and honesty. It didn’t feel like he was giving rehearsed answers — he genuinely wanted me to understand the work and what success in the role looks like. I also had the chance to meet with Thomas Marano, the Regional Manager, and Gianna Amendola, the Area Director. Both were incredibly kind and clearly passionate about the company and the team they’re building. It was obvious they take the hiring process seriously and are focused on bringing in strong people who will succeed and contribute to the culture. Ultimately, I decided not to move forward because my background is in law and I wasn’t completely certain I was ready to make a full transition into the medical device space. That said, the interview process itself really opened my eyes to the opportunities the company offers and the kind of environment they’re building. If you’re serious about working in medical devices, I would absolutely recommend considering Koya Medical. The team seems genuinely supportive, the culture feels positive, and the people I met were impressive across the board.
