I applied for the Barista position at my local Kroger/Starbucks with the referral of my Dad who has just started working there himself. I did the application online, and then got a phone call from the recruiter in Columbus. My dad was talking to the HR guy so I knew he wanted to hire me. My interview was set up for a Saturday, so I went and answered some questions with the HR guy and he offered me the job right on the spot! They needed people desperately so I probably got the job too easily. He asked me questions like "tell me when working too quickly can be a problem" and "tell me about a time when you set goals for yourself". Honestly they were harder questions than I was expecting. I had prepared about 30 behavioral questions and I didn't get asked any of those. I guess he thought I did good though because I got the job. He had me do the drug test right there, which is sticking a swab in on the side of your mouth for 5 minutes and then they send it to a lab. It wasn't bad at all. He told me how much pay was going to be (8.10) and what my uniform was going to be and stuff like that. He was actually leaving to go to another Kroger so there was a transition of HR people going on so he said it might be a while since I heard anything. It was a little over a week when I heard from Kroger and the new HR lady told me I had to come in for 2 orientation classes (1 on Tuesday 4-8 and 1 on Thursday 4-8:30.) I just completed the first class last night and it wasn't bad at all. Basically you get a tour of the store, do some things on the computer to get set up with a password and stuff, and get acclimated with the time punch system. Going back tomorrow to finish up my tax forms and things like that, then I think I will actually start working! Looking forward to it, but I know it will be pretty overwhelming at first. :)
He had a sheet of paper that had about 10 questions on it that all candidates get asked. They were basically about previous jobs and how you displayed such and such.

Easy interview asked basic background information and customer service questions. Only 1 person interviewed me and I was hired on the spot. The questions were very short and sweet. Mostly just one sentence answers

I was called in for a group interview which asked us to role play certain customer service scenarios. I was called back after this for a follow up where I was offered a few options for positions within the store and a oral drug test was done.

quick, wanted me to start immediately; they can't get enough people to work in my area, so they were willing to work with me. Offered me the schedule I wanted right off the bat
