Very straightforward. Applied on USAJobs and was called for an interview that lasted about 45 minutes. Pretty standard interview questions and no video or in-person component. The person I interviewed with was very courteous and interesting!

They called me, asked me questions about my experience, called my references, and then called me to offer me tentative employment, then had to fill out paperwork and background check forms

There was only one phone interview. There were required questions I was asked along with other questions. It was a really nice interview. It was an amazing fellowship; I learned so much.
